RACE DAY PARKING

On race day, there are several parking options available in the area.  You'll find several parking garages that are about a 5 to 10-ish minute walk from the start/finish areas.

There will be $5 event parking available at the Lowell HCID garage. Spaces are limited, so early arrival is recommended.

Overflow parking is recommended at the Leo Roy garage on Market St, and at the
Joseph Downs garage on John St. Normal parking rates apply.

Free street parking is  also available.

We DO NOT recommend parking at the Ayotte garage (next to the Tsongas). It is located within the Race
Start/Finish Village making access and egress difficult to impossible at times.

Please also note that roads leading to the Tsongas Center, with the sole exception of Arcand
Drive (from Merrimack St) are closed for race operations. Please use Arcand Drive if you are dropping off a participant.

Details about each parking garage are listed below.  We encourage you to arrive as early as possible, so that you can be at the starting line on time.

Parking details

  • The HCID Parking Garage at 350A Dutton St. It's only $5 to part on race day.  This parking garage will be the first one you can use if you used the Thorndike St. exit ramp (exit 5B) off of the Lowell Connector.  Since it's outside the road closures, you'll have easy access before and after the race!

  • The Joseph Downes Garage (normal rates) at 75 John Street.  It's a couple of blocks down on French Street from the start/finish areas.   This has easy access before and after the race.

  • The Market Street Garage (normal rates) at 100 Market St. This garage is south of the start/finish. Likewise, the Market Street Garage is outside of the road closures, so easy access coming into the race and leaving.

  • The George Ayotte Parking Garage is inside the Baystate Start/Finish area. Access is slow and difficult to get to in the morning.  It's impossible after 6:45AM (or may be earlier) and egress during and after the event is difficult and very slow due to street closures.
Be warned: You can experience very long delays using this garage - especially when leaving!!  Do not use this garage if you have to get somewhere afterwards by a certain time.

  • More information about the garages can be found here.

OUR MISSION: We pride ourselves on being a race that is “For Runners - By Runners” and have been committed to that brand for over 30 years. Our race is one of the few remaining marathons that is put on 100% by volunteers rather than a for-profit company. Each year, all proceeds from our race are distributed to the local running community in some way. The Greater Lowell Road Runners executes our mission of promoting and encouraging the sport of running. Registration fees from this race enable GLRR to give scholarships to local high school seniors, funding the GLRR Youth Program, providing donations to local high schools who volunteer at our water stops, and partial funding of the benefits that come with a GLRR membership.
